The Jintara rehab team in Chiang Mai Thailand

Why Jintara Exists

Darren Lockie ran large international rehabs for years and saw the same pattern. Many adults felt overwhelmed and overlooked in big mixed-age programs. They wanted medical safety, real therapy time, and some privacy in a group they could relate to, not a crowd of people that they shared nothing in common with.

He opened Jintara in 2022 as a deliberate alternative. The aim was simple. Stay small, stay adult, and do the basics very well: safe detox on site, full medical checks early, master's level therapy with low caseloads, and owner-led intake so fit and safety come first, not sales targets.

What makes Jintara rehab different

What Makes Jintara Different?

We work with around 10 clients at a time and focus on adults aged 18 to 65. Groups feel calm and mature. People often say they can relax, stop performing, and speak honestly for the first time in years. You'll get medical clarity from day one with:

  • Arrival screening, including alcohol and drug tests
  • Early psychiatric review if detox medication is needed
  • Full Day-2 checkup at Bangkok Hospital Chiang Mai, paid by Jintara, including blood panels, liver and kidney function, EKG, and chest X-ray

This gives the team a clear picture of your health before the residential program goes further.

Who Jintara rehab helps in Chiang Mai

Who Does Jintara Help?

A typical Jintara client is a high-functioning adult with growing alcohol or drug use on top of anxiety, depression, low mood, trauma features, or burnout. They may have tried periods of sobriety, outpatient treatment, or a large mixed-age rehab that did not stick.

They care about privacy and medical safety. They want a private room, clear rules, on-site detox, and structured aftercare that fits work and family life rather than a loose "see how it goes" plan. We are not a fit for:

  • Active eating disorders that need close meal and bathroom observation
  • Unmedicated psychosis or very unstable bipolar disorder
  • People who do not want treatment and are being pushed to attend with no interest in change

Common Questions About Jintara

Frequently Asked Questions

Most people who settle in well are high functioning adults whose drinking or drug use has crept up on top of anxiety, low mood, trauma features, or burnout. They want privacy, clear boundaries, and straight answers about their health. If that sounds like you, talk to us — being ready to engage matters more than having all the answers.

People who only want a break from stress without looking at their own patterns usually struggle more in this setting. The programme asks you to be honest, sit with discomfort, and do things differently, so a degree of willingness matters more than motivation on day one.
