Ann Whelan (Hanan)

Hanan is a consulting psychotherapist on the clinical team at Jintara, with more than 15 years of international experience across addiction recovery, trauma therapy, and mental health counselling. She holds a Master of Science in Psychotherapy from the University of Sheffield and is a Certified Addictions Therapist with the Asia Pacific Certification Board. Her career has spanned Oman, Thailand, Bahrain, and the UK, in both senior clinical leadership and direct therapy roles.

Her practice integrates trauma-focused approaches including Attachment-Focused EMDR (all three levels, Parnell Institute) and Schema Therapy (trained with Dr. Rob Brockman), alongside holistic modalities such as sound bowl therapy and Pranic healing. She previously led clinical operations at Lanna Healthcare and Seasons in Chiang Mai, counselled at DARA Rehab, and worked at drug rehabilitation centres in Bahrain and the Al-Harub Medical Centre in Oman. She currently runs Oasis of Hope Counseling in Muscat as Senior Therapist and Supervisor.

At Jintara, Hanan contracts for intensive therapy periods, working alongside Clinical Director Denise O'Leary on trauma-focused psychotherapy and clinical supervision. She provides expert input on high-risk and complex cases, and integrates Schema Therapy, EMDR, and trauma recovery work into individual sessions with clients during her visits. She speaks English, Arabic, and Swahili fluently, which supports the clinical team's work with clients from the Middle East and East Africa.
